Realme Launched Its First Smartwatch

Realme's explosive performance in India has made it one of the fastest-growing smartphone brands in the world, and today the company is expanding the IoT market with the launch of the “Lifestyle Technology”. The first was Realm's first smartwatch, fictitiously called Realme Watch. It has a square design with a 1.4 inch 320x320 LCD and what it looks like is a custom version of Android. It can display notifications, control music, hang up phone calls, and do other specific smartwatch things.

Realme is guaranteeing 7 to 9 days of battery life from the watch or 20 days in its power-saving mode. Realme's Watch has similar usefulness as the fitness band the brand propelled in March, including heart rate sensors, sleep monitoring, and India-targeted cricket-tracking mode. The large screen makes this look like a Fitbit-style watch, although the bands easily get removed if you want to change the style.

Design & Screen

When you first glance at the Realme Watch, it looks like a child's smartwatch. But this is not to worry, it is loaded with more features than you expect in this price category. Realme Watch manufactures a polycarbonate with a metallic finish. You get a button with yellow indents on the right and silicone straps to round the kitty. Realme will now offer straps with a traditional clasp but straps with a modern clasp are coming soon.

Talking about the display, Realme Watch has a 1.4 inch TFT LCD with 320 x 320 resolution and brightness up to 380 nits. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. If you haven't seen, there's also a Realme logo below the display, but it's barely noticeable. To see it, you have to tilt the clock at a certain angle.

The Realme Watch will be paired with the Realme Link app, similar to the fitness band, in which you are offered to use 12 watch out-of-the-box. However, you can only have six watch faces on a smartwatch due to storage limitations. Realme plans to add 100+ watch faces to the watch with the upcoming OTA update.

Software

Realme Watch is powered by company-owned software rather than Google's Wear OS, whose market share (currently around 4%) is declining by the day. This is the company's first attempt at a smartwatch OS, so we'll put our hands on it to find out how good it is. But, you also get access to many features including notification support for calls (you can mute or end call) and apps (such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, and more).

Due to the lack of microphone and speakers on the board, you cannot take calls on Realme Watch. Most of your activity records are now directly accessible through the clock. You do not need to open the Realme link to view your heart rate chart, activity details, or even sleep monitoring information.

Realme Clock Music Control

Apart from all this, Realme Watch also gives you quick access to music controls and shutter buttons. This means that you do not need to take your phone to change tracks or adjust the volume. Also, it will be easy to click solo or group selfie with the shutter button on the watch.

14 Game Modes

Realme Watch supports 14 sports modes including outdoor run, walk, indoor run, outdoor bicycle, aerobic capacity, strength training, football, basketball, table tennis, badminton, indoor bicycle, elliptical machine, yoga, and cricket. There is no GPS in tow, thus, the smartwatch relies on the phone to map your activity.

Heart Rate & Sleep Monitoring

The smartwatch is equipped with PPG sensors from Goodix. This allows you to monitor your heart rate and Realme Watch will send you alerts for low and high heart rate. This clock is set to hold your heart rate by default at 5-minute intervals, but it is possible to enable continuous heart rate tracking.

In addition to your heart rate, the watch also enables you to monitor sleep and blood oxygen saturation levels. All this data will be available on the watch, which can connect Bluetooth 5.0 to your phone.

IP Rating

Realme Watch is IP68 water and dust resistant, which means that you can swim without any issue.

Battery Life

The smartwatch has a 160mAh battery and Realme claims that you can get up to seven days of battery life with a heart rate monitor. If you enable the power saving mode you can extend it for twenty days but it will disable many types of features.

Price & Availability

Realme Watch is priced at Rs. The new Amazfit Bip S is priced at Rs 3,999 in India. 4,999 and is set to launch in India early next month.
