Since the rise of Coronavirus, we have seen an array of face masks making their face in the market. We saw the final face shield, bioVZR, and recently we saw a programmer develop a mask that simulated the movements of the lips. Now, a company has created the world's first UV-powered "smart" face mask that can self-sterilize with UV-C.

The leaf, developed by Detroit-based Radcliffe Healthcare is a unique reusable face mask that comes with active ventilation and an N99 + HEPA standard filtration system. It is also completely transparent, much like Huami’s “Project Aeri”.

According to the manufacturers, the Leaf has many beneficial features and is being called the "Mask of 2020". Adam Lightman, one of the company's co-founders, says that as the use of masks increases day by day, using one-time masks can have a bad impact on the environment. Therefore, they manufactured Leaf, which is a strong, flexible, and reusable face recycled material.

On the security front, Leaf is coming up with the most advanced filtration system in the market, which blocks 99.9997% of pollutants in the air, including particles such as 0.3 microns.

Another unique feature of the mask is that it can clean itself with UV-C rays with the touch of a button. This self-sterilizing feature not only makes the leaf more secure but also ensures that the filter of the mask lasts for a month, unlike traditional masks. Furthermore, as the mask is transparent, users can easily unlock their smartphones using Face Unlock.

You can also customize your mask by adding your favorite translucent colors or adding the color of your choice to the lip section.

The leaf comes in four sizes - 55 mm for 3-8-year-olds, 65 mm for 7-12-year-olds, 85 mm for adults or teens, and 115 mm one for adults with relatively large faces. Each leaf mask comes with a HEPA filter and a carrying case, priced at $ 49 (~ 3700). Another variant comes with a HEPA-carbon filter and has a higher price tag of $ 89 (~ Rs. 6725)

The company is currently running a campaign on Indiegogo through which it has already raised $ 108,000 (~ 8,179,600 rupees) from 534 backers. You can check the mask on its officialwebsite.
