Xiaomi is set to reveal the Mi Band 5 in China on June 11. It will be
scheduled one day from now and for the same day when the Mi Notebook will be
unveiled in India.
First, the Chinese giants give us
a closer look at the design of the Mi Band 5. Renders assure us that it is
going to be an upgrade to the Mi Band 4 rather than the total custom. The
teaser poster of the seven enhanced features on the left of the Mi Band 5
includes a large display, magnetic charging, 11 sport modes and more.
Let's take a look at them at
once.
As per the teaser on the right,
the Mi Band 5 will come with a 20% larger color touch display over its
predecessor. This means that we can expect to see 1.15-inch AMOLED screens
onboard - larger than the 0.95-inch screens on the Mi Band 4. It is difficult
to predict whether the size of the tablet is increased to accommodate larger
displays - based on render alone.
One of the biggest upgrades here
should be the charging mechanism. Everyone knows that Xiaomi has plugged in the
charging mechanism to pop its uncomfortable how pill and keep it for a very
long time. It will eventually embrace a magnetic charger with the Mi Band 5, as
shown in the render below. You will no longer need to remove the strap and can
only snap the charger when the band battery is low.
In addition, the teaser on the
left shows that the Mi Band 5 will bring an advanced sensor stack for better
monitoring. Xiaomi is planning to enhance the health tracking features of its
fitness tracker. It will now include a SpO2 sensor with a heart rate tracker,
to track your blood oxygen levels. All this data will also be used to monitor
sleep and stress.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that
the Mi Band 5 will include women's health features and a total of 11 sports
modes - up from the current five that are on its predecessor. Also, you will
now get NFC support out-of-the-box on standard variants. Xiaomi has not
launched a special edition version with the said functionality - like it has
done in the past. The Mi Band 5 will also include a camera shutter button for
remote capture.
